Motor penggerak dipasangi roda gerigi yang dihubungkan dengan rel. Motor penggerak dan roda gerigi ini ditempatkan pada suatu kotak panel (untuk keamanan) dan kemudian ditempel pada ujung pagar.  Saat dinyalakan motor penggerak akan bergerak ke kiri atau ke kanan dengan bersama dengan pagar. Ada pula yang sistem motor penggerak diam namun rel yang bergerak.

Pagar automatik masih boleh buka kalau mati listrik/ blackout  sekarang punya version, ada bateri backup dalam control box dia tu macam baterai motor...dry cell...buat supply power kalau-kalau padam Listrik. baterai itu boleh tahan setahun dan rechargeable (automatic recharge kalau dah ada hidup listrik).

Bila tidak ada bateri backup, pagar tetap boleh buka kalau tak ada listrik. Bisa manual override...un-screw  aje gear nya , lepas itu sorong seperti biasa. Baik autogate  yang buka tengah, buka tepi atau yang tak buka langsung....sekarang semua dah canggih banget. Safety feature pun sangat bagus. most system sekarang ada auto-stop also kalau terlanggar halangan seperti manusia atau kereta , dsb.
